Reserve Unit

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Unit is comprised of volunteer Deputy Sheriffs who assist and augment full-time sworn Deputies. Reserve Deputies are active members of the community who are trained to act in a limited capacity as a Deputy Sheriff.

Duties

Whether assisting Uniform Patrol during regular shift patrol, helping specialized units (such as Community Policing, the Marine Unit, Traffic Enforcement Unit, Community Operations), or at county athletic events, they are always busy. It takes a genuine, long-term commitment to be a Reserve Deputy Sheriff with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.

Certifications / Training

Reserve Deputies are certified through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE)/Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC) and have completed a shortened version of the police academy. They receive ongoing training in all aspects of law enforcement functions and work alongside full-time sworn Deputies.

Uniforms

Reserve Deputies wear the same uniform and drive the same vehicles as full-time sworn Deputies.
