Special Investigations Section

Organized Crime Unit

This unit conducts in-depth, long term drug investigations focusing on organized mid-level drug dealers up through drug smugglers. Detectives also investigate alien smuggling.

Detectives in this unit are highly trained and utilize advanced surveillance and monitoring equipment to perform their job function. The cases investigated commonly cross outside of Martin County's jurisdiction, therefore, detectives are tasked with coordinating muti-agency investigations involving local and federal law enforcement agencies. These agencies include:

  • All three bordering counties
  • Customs and Border Patrol (CBP)
  • The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)
  • Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI)
  • Homeland Security (HSI)

Street Crimes Unit

The Street Crimes Unit targets local street drug sellers and any other form of organized street crimes within Martin County. This team is responsible for drug buy-busts, video buys, undercover operations and all vice crime operations.

The Martin County Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Section also executes search warrants in order to seize drug stashes and the proceeds of drug transactions. The detectives in this section are highly trained in the operation of surveillance equipment and conducting undercover operations.
